Agapanthus africanus is a majestic rhizomatous herbaceous perennial, with large ball shaped white flowers in summer, well above semi-evergreen to evergreen ribbon-like foliage, depending on the climate. In South Africa, it is often subjected to the fires that destroy the vegetation of the Fynbos, and seems to flower more abundantly when it has been exposed to fire.
