Cistus is an evergreen Mediterranean shrub, forming a large, regular ball. This fairly hardy shrub, perfectly adapted to drought, clearly expresses the spirit of the scrubland and requires warmth, sunshine and very well-drained soil. It produces an aromatic substance called labdanum, which is widely used in perfumery and aromatherapy.
