Phillyrea angustifolia, also known as Narrow-leaved Filaria, is an evergreen shrub related to the olive tree, but is more discreet, more modest and also hardier. It bears black berries in autumn, which are attractive to birds. Can be pruned and used in a variety of situations, for example as a topiary.
